Improve the quality of our positive youth sports experiences realizing a greater number of engaged athletes and an increased retention rate of participation.

Many sports program administrators do not have the time or the knowledge to find quality educational and health resources they can use to ultimately enhance their sports programs and better themselves and the youth sports experience they provide. In fact, the #1 reason children quit a youth sports program is because of a bad experience and that experience begins with the coaches. Approximately one third choose to quit organized sport activities because they are not having fun, change interests, lack the appropriate skill level, feel burned out, are bored, or do not like the coach. Coaches are some of the first role models our children have. They represent leadership in sports; they are the ones our children look up to and follow without question and less than 5% of our volunteer coaches have received any level of coaching education.1 Thanks to various national and local research firms like the Aspen Institute and National Alliance for Youth Sports and NCACE coaching certification programs, scientific findings, educational/training materials and new technologies are readily available.

Existing research indicates that appropriate coach training programs have the ability to improve coaches' behaviors, improve player outcomes (e.g., self-esteem, enjoyment), participant engagement, and ultimately increase participant retention. Pivot Athletic Development brings to our community coaching certification programs2 (accredited by NCACE), ongoing educational materials, continuing education opportunities, and seminars and workshops covering important sports and health related topics held at convenient times for little or no cost to our community. These programs are not only for coaches and program administrators, but also for parents, athletes and everyone involved in youth sports.

Our educational events will bring the community together to open conversations regarding the health and safety of our children, build excitement around youth sports programs, and serve as a platform to continue to gain support from our community members and businesses, guiding the culture by creating a common voice and common messaging of the impact that quality sports programs, administrators and educators have on contributing to the building of our youth's character blueprints.
